At
TRA-Mage, our snow brackets are engineered from the fail point
of the roof system. Through proper testing and research, we
have developed unique engineered charts. These charts calculate
the number of snow brackets required and their correct distribution
as provided in a roofing square layout based on the roof surface
type, sheathing type and thickness, snow load, and roof slope.
Snow
Bracket H Technical Guide
Tile
Roof Accessories (TRA-Mage) Snow Bracket H has been engineered
for use with all standing seam and metal panel roof systems. The
H Bracket can also be used as retrofit on asphalt shingles.
For optimum assurance that snow and ice will not slide, always
use the snow load/slope chart to determine the number of snow
brackets per roofing square. Snow loads vary. Check with the local
building department to verify the snow load for your area.
TRA MAGE Snow Bracket H can be installed on existing or new construction.
INSTALLATION
For standing seam and metal panel roofs:
Place the H Bracket on flat surface of standing seam metal roof
on the full run of the panel from eave to ridge and do not exceed
3 feet apart in spacing. Drill through existing holes in the bracket
and through roofing product and sheathing. The hole size should
be smaller than screw threads to prevent the screw from pulling
out when stressed. Then re-drill the metal panel only with holes
larger than the screws to prevent oil canning and slotting concerns.
Apply caulk in the holes and below the snow bracket. Install the
screws, then caulk screw head and install the clip.
For asphalt shingle roof:
This snow bracket is used as a retrofit for asphalt shingles.
The triangular end of the snow bracket must be placed at the butt
end of the shingle. Exposure of the bracket from the triangular
end to the next course of shingles should be about 5 1/2".
Drill through existing holes in the bracket and through roofing
product and sheathing. The size of the hole should be smaller
than screw threads to prevent the screw from pulling out when
stressed. Remove the bracket. Install caulking in holes and on
base of the product. Place the snow bracket or snow guard on roofing,
aligning holes and screw through holes and apply caulk to head
of screw and install the cover clip.
